What you can do immediately to help get the innocent Betty Wilson out of prison

Betty Wilson was convicted of capital murder in March 1993 and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Betty Wilson is innocent!

In May of 1992 Betty Wilson and her twin sister, Peggy Lowe, were tried for allegedly hiring James White to kill Betty's wealthy husband, Dr. Jack Wilson at their home in Huntsville, Alabama. She did not hire anyone to kill her husband. The media made a circus of this disaster and portrayed Betty as a rich doctor's wife who should be punished for being a rich doctor's wife. The state presented no physical evidence connecting Betty to her husband's death. In fact, the state's own evidence proved she could not have participated in her husband's death.

The case revolved around a handyman, James White, the convicted killer. He was certifiably mentally ill, diagnosed with delusional schizophrenic; had spent his life in and out of jail and mental institutions; was an alcoholic; a drug abuser; a child molester; and was dishonorably discharged from the U.S. Army for stabbing an officer and shooting at his own men. After making a 'deal' for life in prison for himself, he admitted he had lied about Betty Wilson. There is documented proof that the State made the statement that without White's testimony there was no case against Betty Wilson. White was not tried until after he testified at both sisters' trials and was sentenced to life in prison. He has stated that he was coerced by the prosecution to testify against the sisters or go to the electric chair for capital murder.

Think about it:

Two sisters tried for the same crime.
The only witness, the convicted killer, was unfit to testify and lied 58 times at Betty Wilson's trial.
No physical evidence connecting either sister to the murder
No forensic evidence to prove White had been in Betty Wilson's car as he stated in court.
One sister acquitted -- the first-grade school teacher active in her church.
One sister sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole -- the rich bitch who had an affair with a black man.

Now, something is very wrong with this picture!

The Huntsville Times (click for) article July 22, 2000:
High reversal rate in state's capital cases

Alabama led the nation in the percentage of capital cases reversed by appeals courts between 1973 and 1995, according to a Columbia University study. The researchers' analysis of 4,578 cases showed most cases are seriously flawed.
